Classic or Fashion?

How do people here choose what to buy when it comes to those more expensive purchases? Shoes, coats, bags? I am in a dialemma because I love a hot pink leather bag which is on the small side. I also like a large, day to day black bag which everyone assures me is more practical and....Classic.

But surely we can't always go for the safe, easy option? What about the fun things? Or should expensive items go towards the pratical? (unless you are rich of course, then you can have as many as you like!)

I finally made the investment into a pair of Louboutins! But they are so high! So hard to wear! I've realised that my heel limit is just 3inches. Anything higher I can not cope with!

Its been freezing cold in England lately!

So I bought myself a large, padded coat and some UGGS. But now I feel a little scruffy! Do people on here thing that you can wear super warm clothing AND be genuinely stylish? Is this possible?

Is anyone here good at choosing sunglasses? I really need a pair but I am not sure what will suit me. I have a roundish face shape but I really don't like square glasses! They make me look stern! What do other people think?

It's from a writer who to me seems like a real snob! She is annoyed because she wore the same £15 dress as her cleaner.........read it and tell me what you think? it made me quite angry!

I would normally laugh at a trend like this but I have been loving wearing leggings lately (because they are so comfortable!) so I must I bought a pair. Has anyone else?

So even though I model and stuff, I mainly do commercial/print, which made me pretty ignorant of fashion, trends, and styles. But lately my mom has been subscribing to InStyle Magazine and while bored, I ended up flipping through the pages. I must say, I think I'm starting to become interested in fashion! lol. I love their articles, and the way they lay out their pages. The images of the clothes are great and the brief paragraph of content that accompanies each page gives me just enough information to understand what styles, fabrics, and designers they're talking about without making me feel like I need to take a fashion design class to understand the lingo.

What are your favorite fashion publications that you just have to read from front to back?

Investment Pieces

With the ways things are in the economy I have been trying to control my sudden splurges - there are so many cheaper stores to buy from things from these days thats its easy to buy a bit here, buy a bit there - before you know it you've just spent £200 a month on nothing.

So I am thinking of investing in some things. Like the classic black pumps, the luxury black bag (chanel) things that will stand the test of time.

How are you buying choices affected by the recession?

We all know that as women, we have that one pair of shoes that we just can't live without. So I wanna know, what's yours?

For me, it's my pair of 4 inch, taupe, strappy heels. With one simple strap going across the toes and one simple strap around the ankle, I love the simplicity, not to mention that it is great for showing off my pedicures! Additionally, the taupe color allows me to mix and match it with clothes without worrying about if it matches my ensemble or not. I found them while shopping online for shoes. I can't remember the name of the site I got them from, but they were only $45, which I thought was pretty awesome. The heels are also comfortable, too, so I can wear them to shoots or when I feel like looking cute and stylish while out running errands.

Leggings seems to be super hip this season! I have to say I have bought into this rather embarassing trend by wearing it with a long top to cover my bum and boots. They are super comfortable too. What do other people think?

Is anyone else a bag lady?! I adore my handbags and have steadily over the years built up an amazing collection (if I don't say so myself!). My bag of the season is the Chole Paraty in Python leather. I tend to use the bag to death untill it rips on me so I find it quite a good investment. Does anyone have a bag lust or love?

In light of the current cold weather, I have bought a pair of UGGS - they are super comfortable and soft but they certainly aren't the most stylish. They are also horrendously expensive too but I've noticed there are lots of comfortable alternatives around for a quarter of the price. Does anyone else like these shoes?

Labelling in clothes

I've started to notice how strange sizing can be in clothes! I bought something from marks and spencer, size UK 12 and it was huge. The UK 12 in ZARA however, is not even fastenable by me!!! It seems to me a lot of retailers like to use vanity sizing - it wouldnt bother me as I don't care whats on the label, but what is annoying is I hate to try clothes on. Therefore, if I just randomly grab a 12 it may or may not fit - pot luck! What are other peoples experiences with vanity sizing?

Learning to Design/Sew

I know that this is more a modeling forum than fashion, but I'm curious to know how many of you have contemplated learning to sew or actually design your own clothing. My mother designs and sews, but I've never picked it up and now that I'm interested in fashion, I think that it would be a useful skill to have. A lot of times I think of things I would like to wear and can't find them in shops. Knowing how to make my own clothes would be less expensive and more rewarding.

A Christian Louboutin store opened near me! I went to have a look and the red bottomed shoes are as beautiful as I suspected - however there is a huge problem - they have extremely limited supplies! When I asked about a pair of the shoes, apparently they only get one of each style in each size!!!!! Needless to say they didn't have an 8 in for me :/ some things are so exclusive no one can even buy them!

Shopping Vintage

Vintage clothes seem to be everywhere at the moment, and is a key trend.

What do people on here think of Vintage wear? Stylish or just a bunch of old clothes?

I look for vintage on Ebay and sometimes in special stores in my area although I am still not very good at looking in charity stores - I don't have the patience!

I am doing a big clear out of my clothes, shoes....its hard to decide what to keep and give away sometimes! I am the kind of person who will look at an item and think, this cost so much and I only wore it once....or I will think, maybe it will come back into fashion!

Either way my wardrobe is brimming! How to decide what to keep and what to give away? Be ruthless or sentimental?

My new Model Victoria had a wonderful idea today. The seven deadly sins. Done before no doubt, however I think it will really help to develop our skills. Just wondering if anyone had any ideas on this.

Here are the sins.

I'd love to have a outrageous makeup and costumes, very anti-fashion on a way. For gluttony she wants to look messy, get covered in chocolate etc/ It'll be fab I just wanted to know if anything had been done like this and if you guys have any ideas for costumes/makeup.
