It may sound luxurious but if you are dying to find a certain shade of lipstick, or you want to get the perfect foundation, custom mixed make up is the way to go!

Prescriptives is a great counter to go on, although, they are shutting down soon!

Anyone know of any other custom blend brands?

Apparently this is to do with the make up you are wearing. You should avoid make up with:

1. SPF

2. Light reflecting qualities

3. Shiny powders with glitters

You can use highlighters but be very specific where you put them - not all over! Its really helped me, now I use matte make up whenever possible in photographs! Do you have any tips?

Even though I am brown skinned, I have discoloration due to my eczema. It was making me self conscious as far as modeling work goes because I am three different shades on various parts of my body so I felt it would be nice to see what being one color would be like. The spray tan used DHA, which is a sugar base, so I was sticky afterwards the first day--a bit uncomfortable. But the next day I was beautifully bronzed. It was lovely!

My mid section looked completely normal and hid the worst of my discoloration but it didn't do much to blend in the stretch marks on my butt (my stretch marks must have super powers!). While I loved the look the only downside was my skin started to get itchy after a while. After all, I still had eczema and unfortunately while having the spray tan you're not supposed to exfoliate, which can be problematic for when I start to develop eczema patches. After about 2 weeks I couldn't take it anymore--my skin was excessively dry no matter how much moisturizer I used and it felt really itchy. So I made a spa appointment and got a dead sea salt scrub to remove the dead skin and the tan. For the most part it worked.

I think I'll stick to sunless tanners since they seem to work better for me skin but it sure was nice to be one solid color for once lol.

Anyone else have any good or bad experiences with spray tanning?

Is it as easy as just using the oil to take off the makeup and then drying your skin or are you supposed to still cleanse as normal after you've used the oil? Sorry if that sounds like a dumb question but I don't know anyone personally who uses that method and I was wondering how it worked. I would be scared to do it because I'd be afraid that I'd clog up my pores or breakout or something but those oils are natural so I would imagine it isn't all that bad for the skin? Anyone have any idea?

But I've been holding off on seeing agencies because of them. Right now the extensions put my hair below my shoulders, while my real hair touches my collar bone. Do you think it'll be a big deal if I saw the agencies with my extensions in and told them about the length of my real hair? I'd have my portfolio with me so it would show what I look like with my real hair so it wouldn't be like they wouldn't know what to expect. Or should I just wait till the glue wears off and then go to the casting with my regular hair?

I know not a lot of people give the makeup artist much thought so I thought I would throw out those questions to see how things are in that part of the industry when things get tough or complicated.

I have four different looks with four different makeup artist students and while it was super fun, I consider myself lucky that my skin was able to hang. One of the models they had the other day had a bad reaction to all the makeup and her eyes got really swollen. I brought my liquid cleanser, which I think worked better for me than using the makeup wipes the other models had. Although I will say that the makeup wipes did wonders for removing the fancy eye makeup. But I noticed that it left my eyes and the surrounding skin really sensitive, which I didn't like. Is that type of burning/stinging sensation normal when using makeup wipes or was it just because I had to do that a lot throughout the day? I wanted to buy a pack for myself to use at home but not if I have to feel that sensation each time I use it.

I had my boudoir shoot coming up and wanted my hair to be longer so I decided to go to the beauty supply store nearby and buy a new set of hair extensions. I had only used such extensions once before--for a pageant--but the color of the hair was black and I realized that my hair actually isn't black so I wanted to make sure to buy hair that was as close to my natural color as possible. And luckily, I managed to find it! I also got some hair bonding glue then when home, propped a mirror in front of my vanity mirror so I could see the back of my head and started sectioning my hair off. I measured the right length of hair to use and carefully applied the tracks to my head. I used three, basically one at the bottom, one in the middle, and one near the crown of my head.

It actually turned out really nice! My boyfriend and even my parents didn't realize it wasn't my hair until they remembered that the last time they saw me my hair was barely touching my shoulders! I get really happy when I learn to do things like that on my own because it really does save a lot of time and money!

I've been trying to grow my hair out forever but no matter what stylist I go to, they manage to chop my hair off instead of giving me a trim. After my tried and true stylist started to follow in the same footsteps, I have since stopped going to her and now do my own hair. I'm not a pro by any means...but when I notice that I have split ends, I'll mimic what I used to see my stylist do in the mirror. Of course my layers are starting to grow out and it's funky looking when I curl it so I'm thinking I may have to take a chance and go back to her, but only to do the layers, nothing else.

I have a few other friends that have learned to cut and style their own hair, for whatever reasons. Any of you follow this DIY (do-it-yourself) trends?
