I have been trying to buy more frugally, although I completely adore buying beautiful make up.  Looking at cheaper brands one of the obvious things that is not as nice as with expensive brands is the packaging.  How much does packaging matter?

Obviously there is the psychological aspect of it all - using something that looks good makes you feel better but how important is it?

Luckily, I have really good discipline when it comes to shopping, especially if I know I have a tight budget to work with, so while I like to star gaze at the lovely, expensive packaging and design of the higher end brands, I pretty much don't let it influence me to buy it. Most times all it takes is that high price tag to turn me off and cause me to walk away. I have been noticing that the cheaper brands are starting to put a bit more thought into their packaging design. Sometimes the packaging is so good that I had to look really closely to realize that it's a brand that I usually buy. So I definitely think the makeup industry is starting to implement better designs into their products so that people from all financial backgrounds can afford a really nice looking product.
