Most people would think that only fair skinned people get spray tans but I actually just got one a few weeks ago. Even though I am brown skinned, I have discoloration due to my eczema. It was making me self conscious as far as modeling work goes because I am three different shades on various parts of my body so I felt it would be nice to see what being one color would be like. The spray tan used DHA, which is a sugar base, so I was sticky afterwards the first day--a bit uncomfortable. But the next day I was beautifully bronzed. It was lovely!

My mid section looked completely normal and hid the worst of my discoloration but it didn't do much to blend in the stretch marks on my butt (my stretch marks must have super powers!). While I loved the look the only downside was my skin started to get itchy after a while. After all, I still had eczema and unfortunately while having the spray tan you're not supposed to exfoliate, which can be problematic for when I start to develop eczema patches. After about 2 weeks I couldn't take it anymore--my skin was excessively dry no matter how much moisturizer I used and it felt really itchy. So I made a spa appointment and got a dead sea salt scrub to remove the dead skin and the tan. For the most part it worked.

I think I'll stick to sunless tanners since they seem to work better for me skin but it sure was nice to be one solid color for once lol.

Anyone else have any good or bad experiences with spray tanning?

Do you know Dania - tanning makes my skin go funny! I must be allergic to DHA - I get spots and my skin looks dry whenever I use it. I have never had a successful session in my life!
