I just read this article in the Telegraph on Rosie Mortimer's short-lived modeling career. The article in summary, discussed her foray into modeling and her quick realization of the harshness of the industry. She even makes the blatant claim that for a shoot with Vogue shot by Mario Testino, she was "paid in kudos". I'm not sure if I believe that claim, but the article is an interesting look into what some say is a treacherous industry, from a somewhat insider.

    Hi Red

I just read the article - sounds like a very interesting and honest look at the world of modeling from someone who managed to stay grounded throughout. I have been in the spa and beauty industry for 17 years which seems like the most glamorous industry to outsiders but on the inside can be anything but. I think we see too much of supermodels and their fabulous lives and think they are so lucky, but forget they probably went through similar to Rosie's story to get there

I've never dabbled too deeply in the Modelling industry but I can imagine this to be quite true. It's almost harrowing. Like the music industry people think modelling and fashion are totally glamourous but often you find that it isn't. they're probably being dramatic but I can see some truth in it.

I agree that while the outside world sees a glamorous world, insiders know very differently. Rosie Mortimer's story was refreshing and honest, April, that's why I wanted to post it. I think it's good to have both sides exposed so that young girls trying to get into the business know the truth, before jumping head into it. I think it is important to stay grounded in such inflated worlds.
