Looking on eBay I can't believe how many fake goods there are - Nars, Bobbi Brown, MAC seem to be the big targets.  I can spot them a mile off because I am a beauty junkie and I am familiar with packaging and shades but there are plenty of people buying the fake stuff too.  I'd say be wary when buying branded goods, esp things like Brush sets that are 80% off the retail price! It doesn't make sense.  After all, its not just the fact its fake, its the fact that you don't know what chemicals are in there either.

On eBay you can always get a refund if you get a fake item, and make the seller refund the postage too, if you pay with Paypal!

That's really good to know. Thanks, Rowena. I saw some story on the news years ago about fakes as well. The scary thing is when they gave women a nasty rash. I don't really trust buying cosmetics online even if from reputable sellers. I have found that sometimes, they may have a 'real' product but it had been sitting in their warehouse for months so it's practically expired by the time you're getting it. I still prefer in-store, also because especially with make-up I can try it on my skin.

Yes thats a huge benefit being able to try things out since cosmetics (in the UK) can't be returned.  There are a lot of fake Chanel Mascara's on eBay which is bad because mascaras obviously go close to our eyes so it can be pretty dodgy.

Oh, wow, I never even gave it a thought about buying fake cosmetics online! It seems like a concept that I should have been aware of a long time ago since I buy stuff online often but luckily I don't turn to the Internet for cosmetics. I like being able to see, test, and touch the real thing in the store. I'll be sure to let my Mom know...she would be easily swayed by a good online offer that seems too good to be true. Thanks for this heads up!

I was actually just looking at some Creme de la mer online - the retail is £90 but online its £70 but you can never be 100% its geniune unless you buy it direct and since I've never bought it before, I think I may have to pay more and buy it from the shops.  I don't want to spend £70 and get some bizarre white concotion!
