How far would you travel for a modeling gig if travel expenses weren't covered but the pay was good (or if the pay was low but the opportunity would be great for your career)? I'm in Northern California but have applied to many modeling gigs in Southern California. It's only a few hour's drive or a quick plane flight and if the opportunity is really great, then I wouldn't mind traveling for it.

How about anyone else? What's the furthest you've traveled for a modeling gig?

    Hey Dania

Whenever we sent models somewhere (at the agency) we always covered the travel expenses.  However, when models did work ad hoc - it depended on the model really.  Travellin by train is very expensive in the UK so people normally budgeted around £50 but only if the job was worth it.  I wouldn't advise many models to be out of pocket for a job if its low paid or a freebie because there's only so many of those you can do before you end up skint!

Haha, I definitely agree with what you said! I didn't know that traveling by train was expensive in the UK. Are there other more reliable methods of transportation there, such as bus or subway trains? Or is travel by train the only suitable method for traveling to farther distances?

Yeah, it sucks sometimes that there are so many gigs that are like 4-5 hours away from where I am. Sometimes I get lucky and find castings where they are willing to pay for travel but most of them are pretty explicit in saying that if you don't live within the area then don't even bother applying! Ouch! haha
